Dr Emma Micallef Konewko is a highly specialist clinical psychologist who spent 10-years in England working across various sectors in the NHS. During this time, Emma worked therapeutically with children and young people, as well as adults - including those with physical and intellectual disabilities, couples, parents and families.Since returning to Malta in 2016, Emma has spent her time solely in private-practice, with a specific focus on working with individuals with anxiety and depression. She also provided services to large services and organisations, as well as presenting at a number of mental health related conferences.Emma completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (Hons) at the University of Malta and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London.In 2016 she completed further training in Narrative Therapy with the Institute of Narrative Therapy, as well as clinical supervisor training at the Canterbury Christ Church University. She is a registered supervisor and is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of MaltaEmma has expertise in a range of therapeutic approaches including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, the systemic approach, and behavioural approaches (including PBS for challenging behaviour).Emma is trained to provide formal psychometric assessments for the purposes of diagnosing autism and intellectual disabilities. Her particular expertise centres around working with young people and those with intellectual disabilities and/or autism who have found it difficult to engage in the therapeutic process.
